Return to Question of the Week Highlights

If you have brought your children on a Disney cruise, how did your kids enjoy the children's programming onboard? Did you find you could not keep them away from the kids club, did they think the kids club was "just ok", or did they want no part of the kids club? Tell us more about your child's experience with the Disney Cruise children's programming.

Answers from the list:

Our family has been on two disney cruises, the ages were 7 & 10 when
they went to the kids programs. I can't say enough about it the 10
year old routinly paged us to stay out later. The 7 year old just told
us right away to pick her up when they closed. I had to plead with her
to have dinner with the family and to go swimming. They made a lot of
friends that they did not want to leave. The workers there make sure
everyone is included and has a good time. There was also a ceremony
with a graduation from D.U. University, you should have seen the proud
faces on those kids, and the suprise when Mickey showed up in a
graduation gown and cap along with Minnie. My kids would not skip the
experience for anything. In fact the 7 year old can't wait to go back
and in fact we are going again when she is 9 years old. The last two
have been 4 day cruises( we do the land and sea Package),but the next
one will be a 7 day. Have a good day.

Christina LOVED the kid's club. It was all about "Can I go to the club now?"
She really enjoyed the activities - and even enjoyed eating dinner with the
club. She's been in the club at age 4 and 5. She'll be 6 on our cruise this
month. Her favorites were free time on the slide, crarfts and any of the
planned "make something" events like Nestle's Jr. Chef experience. She would
usually get bored when they were watching movies or when they were on the sports
deck, so that was the only time she would call to leave. And usually by the
time I got there she'd already be on to something else and not want to leave!

On the contrary, my nephew went at age 10. He didn't like the clubs very much
and enjoyed time with family and on his own more. The only time he really
enjoyed was when they were on the sports deck. Although not truly shy, he has a
hard time making friends. I think we made it harder for him by not putting him
in the club that first night. It seemed as if many of the kids made friends the
first night when everyone was new.

Our DD #1 turned 3 on our first Disney Cruise! She was potty trained so
she was able to join the club. SHE LOVED IT! I am particularity
impressed with the attention she got from the CMs and the strict
adherence to her allergy to dairy. They were great, and this was before
Soy Milk was even stocked on board. They special ordered it for her! DD
#2 is very shy and we figured that she would never go on her own (girls
are 3 years apart so are in different clubs). However, once sister
showed her the ropes - she did very well at 4yrs. We had our first "time
alone" in years! Again, each time we go, they are great with the girls'
allergies and they watch very closely to make sure that DD#2 is not
afraid of the characters who visit the clubs. Our last visit was the big
test - girls in different rooms (6 and 9). They had a great time because
the counselors took the time to work with our 6 yr old one-on-one - for
those first few moments of each visit. They even allowed both girls to
join each others group until our youngest was more comfortable at being
with her age group without her sister. They went out of their way to
accommodate us. We do not use the kids club on Castaway because we enjoy
being together there so much. There is just so much to do as a
family....The children's programming is one of the biggest reasons why we
take a Disney Cruise! - Shari in PA
