Return to Question of the Week Highlights If you have stayed at DVC's Boardwalk Villas in the past, how have you enjoyed your stay(s) there? What are the strengths of this resort compared to the other DVC resorts? What about this resort do you think can be improved? When you stay in this area of Disney World do you prefer this resort over the nearby Beach Club Villas?. Answers posted to the list: The Boardwalk is our home resort. We usually get a 2BR with a boardwalk view. We love the view of Crescent Lake, especially in the mornings, and the hustle and bustle of the boardwalk at night. By the way, noise has never been a problem. Since I'm an early riser, I enjoy a morning walk around the lake. (There's also a very well-equipped work out room at the Boardwalk.) After my walk, I generally stop by the bakery for pastries for my girls (DW, 2 DDs) back in our rooms. There are some great restaurants very close by too (we love the Flying Fish and ESPN), not to mention those in Epcot just a short walk or boat ride away. MGM is also just a short boat ride away. The pools are nice. The large pool is relatively busy and has a nice water slide and the quiet pool is just that - quiet. I love those coconut smoothies from Leaping Horse Libations near the big pool. The community center near the quiet pool has some neat games and computers, but we really have only "rented" DVDs there. On the down side, the walk to and from the elevators can be a long one as can be the walk to and from the bus stop. By the way, we've never had any problems with the frequency of busses although some do make several stops before picking up or dropping off Boardwalk guests. Milton ----- Love the Boardwalk Villas. We stayed there when it first opened (you could still smell the paint in the hallways). Great location, great views (if you're lucky) and walking distance to lots of things to do. We've stayed there three times and never had a problem. besides, I love to take boats! Chris ----- We have rented points on three occasions and have greatly enjoyed our stay. We have stayed in the studios and the one bedroom. The location is spectacular, the entertainment wonderful. Strengths: 1) Location between EPCOT and MGM is amazing and very convenient. Having the Yacht and Beach Club Inn and Villas, and the Swan and Dolphin Resorts gives you a lot of dining variety. 2) The convenience of having the small wet bar/microwave/small fridge in the studios and the convenience of having a full kitchen in the larger units. 3) The entertainment on the Promenade, the marina at the Yacht Club, and the swimming pools, especially Luna Park. 4) The free laundry was a big bonus, but they still need to fix machine number 6 which doesn't stop running unless you pull open the door and leave it that way. Improvements: The BoardWalk Villas are showing their age. I believe they need to be renovated because things are showing wear and tear, bathroom tiles are stained in areas and bathroom fixtures are wearing down. The wet bar area cupboards need a fresh coat of paint or replacement, the walls need a fresh coat of paint, and the carpets need to be replaced. The balconies are not well kept, especially those which are completely enclosed. They need new bedding.
