Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo a Joy to Visit

They are not easy to pronounce, but a joy to visit! I’m referring to the cities of Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo located on the Pacific coast of Mexico.
I was fortunate to be able to visit Ixtapa & Zihuatanejo in October 2012. In anticipation of daily non-stop Value Flights from Denver that Frontier Airlines will offer in the winter months, I joined a group of travel agents on a short 2 night visit.
Although short, our time was packed with non-stop site visits to several of the beautiful resorts this lovely area offers. Most resorts in this area are all-inclusive and guests enjoy a vacation filled with fantastic food, drink, entertainment and much more.
Here is a picture of our group being warmly greeted by officials and others at the airport:
I stayed for the two nights at the Barcelo Ixtapa Beach. Here is a picture of the lobby area and the pool area. It is a very nice resort and the staff was very friendly.
Walking along the beach behind the Barcelo and other resorts was also a joy, both in the morning and evening.
We were impressed with all the resorts in Ixtapa, including the Presidente InterContinental Ixtapa –
A few of the resorts, including the Presidente InterContinental, allow guests to participate in releasing sea turtles into the ocean in the evening –
The pool at Krystal Ixtapa –
A private suite pool at Capella Ixtapa Resort and Spa –
The Azul Ixtapa Beach Resort, Azul Ixtapa Grand and Club Med Ixtapa have calmer beach water because they are located near Isla Ixtapa, a small island that acts as a reef barrier.
The pool at Azul Beach Resort –
And one of the many pools at Azul Grand –
I very much enjoyed my short visit to Ixtapa & Zihuatanejo and hope to visit again soon for a longer stay.
